Spawning from a comeback victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, we find TWO Sounders up for MLS Goal of the Week. It really should be three (with the inclusion of Montero’s header because well…all hail the rat tail) but Alvaro Fernandez and Roger Levesque’s goals will suffice.

If you get a chance, be sure to vote for your favorite Goal of the Week candidate at MLSsoccer.com. Remember, think rave green.

Fredy Montero is up for MLS Goal of the Week for week 17! Be sure to vote for him by visiting MLSsoccer.com.

What should come as no surprise, Fredy Montero is up for MLS Goal of the Week for Week 14. I implore all of you take a minute to vote for Fredy, although I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t, because Juninho and Alain Rochat had ridiculous goals as well.

Neagle strike runs away with AT&T Goal of the Week

Lamar Neagle’s game-winning hit from 20 yards out, which helped Seattle down Real Salt Lake 2-1 on the road, took home top honors as the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 11.

Neagle curled a right-footed strike from outside the box around the outstretched arms of RSL goalie Nick Rimando before nicking the underside of the crossbar and finding its way into the back of the net.

The goal, which received more than half the votes, easily trumped the rest of the nominees, including second-place finisher Justin Mapp’s left-footed bullet in a 6-2 rout of Toronto at BMO Field.

Final Results

1. Lamar Neagle, Seattle 52%

2. Justin Mapp, Philadelphia 21%

3. Luke Rodgers, New York 13%

4. Ryan Smith, Sporting 8%

5. Chris Wondolowski, San Jose 6%

Congrats, Lamar!

O’Brian White captures AT&T Goal of the Week
Header by Seattle Sounders striker is runaway winner for Week 4

It’s as impressive a header as you’ll see anywhere and it was the runaway winner of the AT&T Goal of the Week award for Week 4.

Seattle Sounders forward O’Brian White had to fight off two Chicago Fire defenders and still generated enough power and a wicked swerve on a header that beat the goalkeeper from about 15 yards out.

The other goals in the running for the weekly award did not seriously challenge the Sounders striker. The closest was Vancouver’s Camilo (13 percent), whose goal was perhaps overshadowed by the skill and through pass of teammate Davide Chiumiento.

Final vote, via online and text voting

  1. O’Brian White (SEA), 68%
  2. Camilo (VAN), 13%
  3. Simon Dawkins (SJ), 7%
  4. David Ferreira (DAL), 7%
  5. Ilija Stolica (NE), 6%

And to absolutely no fanfare or MLS press release (that I could find, anyway), Kasey Keller has secured Save of the Week honors for Week 4 of MLS play. This is his second honor in a row. Get it, Kasey!

Yikes, Sean Johnson had such a bad week. Poor kid.
