Happy Mother’s Day!
Montero originally suffered the injury when he fell on his wrist during training in New York on March 18. The soreness persisted and the specialist told the team that it was at a tricky part of the wrist that doesn’t get a lot of circulation and can be a difficult recovery without surgery.
“They felt the need to surgery now,” Sounders FC head coach Sigi Schmid said. “It’s not something major, but it’s something that needed to be done now so it doesn’t develop into something major if it wasn’t taken care of. It’s not going to keep him out very long, but we’re a little unsure if he can play Saturday or not.”
Schmid is hopeful that Montero will be available to play on Saturday, but if not, the Sounders coach said he expects that he will be ready to face the Chicago Fire at Qwest Field April 9.
